Community Impact Project (CIP)

Embark CSR

The Community Impact Programme (CIP) is an exciting new idea designed to assist voluntary sector organisations with great ideas to benefit their community, and help to get them funded.

The company that manages the Leicester Business Festival, wants to deliver an all year round benefit arising from the festival that will create positive outcomes for local people. This will be achieved through the development and execution of four impactful, local, community based, projects on an annual basis.

Along with Leicester Business Festival CiC, the programme is being co-managed by Voluntary Action Leicestershire, the city and county’s VCSE infrastructure body.

We therefore invite applications from community groups with great ideas to support their communities. Four winners will be announced on the 18th November at the Leicester Giving Day Gala Evening, and thereafter, supported by Embark CSR to raise funds from local companies and other sources up to a maximum of £25,000 per project.

The project that raises the most money and delivers immediate benefit, will be crowned CIP Project of the Year and attract a further £2,000 prize at the 2023 Business Festival.

Applications will be judged by a panel comprising of members of Leicester Business Festival CiC, Embark CSR, the Leicester Giving Day Advisory Board and Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL). The decision of the judges will be final.

What Types of projects are likely to succeed?

We are keen to ensure that all projects submitted can provide support and assistance to those most in need, or can create a positive solution to a negative situation.

We do not want to be prescriptive about the types of projects that could be submitted, this will be down to individual applicants, but some examples of projects are:

Help for children and young people in difficult circumstances

Help for vulnerable adults facing social isolation

Help to clean up a grot spot that can benefit members of the local community

Help for organisations caring for animals

Purchase of equipment or minor modifications to buildings to improve access or to create new activities

Projects will be asked to demonstrate they will be capable of meeting their aims and objectives with a sum of no more than £25,000.
